  • So I actually bought my dress on February 28, 2016 but I waited all this time to write my reviews because I wanted to wait until after my wedding! So my wedding was on August 21, 2016, but I knew I wanted to start looking for my dress as early as possible. We booked our venue at the end of January so I booked my appointment online for the end of February so I could have everyone I wanted there, which included my Mom, my Mother-in-Law, and my three bridesmaids. I live on the very far north west side of town, but I specifically chose THIS location based on some of the other reviews. When I came in with my large party, I was greeted by their receptionist, who had me fill out a form of questions that I had actually already answered when I booked my appointment online, but I filled it out again. She asked me what I was looking for, and I told her I was looking for a ball gown type with some sort of sleeve or strap, I didn't want strapless. She told me to go ahead and look around and my stylist would meet with us. So my party took off and were pulling tons of dresses. I have to admit, going in, I was a little bit worried about the type of selection they would have, beings I am plus sized. I didn't want to look frumpy or have a basic dress, just because I am plus sized. But soon enough, our stylist, Angie, met with us and started to help pick out dresses as well. Angie was incredibly friendly and fun to work with. I introduced her to everyone in my party once and she remembered everyone's names for the whole night. After we had narrowed it down to about 8-10 dresses, Angie helped me into the dressing room and helped me into the corset and slip. She made friendly conversation the whole time, asking about my fiancĂ©, my friends, and anything to make me more comfortable. By the end of the night, I felt like we had been friends forever! I tried on seven or eight dresses, each one felt better than the next! The plus sized dresses they had didn't feel plus size! They all looked incredible. With every dress I tried on, Angie would have my girls run to grab accessories to try on with it! I tried on shoes, veils, jewelry, tiaras, everything they had to offer! Angie made the appointment so much fun and made sure everyone was engaged and having a great time. I did end up finding my dress that night, and Angie and the rest of the team really made it feel like the quintessential TV "Say Yes to the Dress" moment. I really felt like a princess wearing my dress that night and ringing their bell! I ordered my dress that night. Now, this is when I'm thankful that I started early. My dress was expected to come in the beginning of April. It did, straight from the manufacturer, but for whatever reason, when we opened it up, this dress had somehow gotten ripped and stained all over the bottom with like a black grease. The manager kept apologizing that she had never seen anything like this happen ever before. We sent this dress back and she rush ordered me another one. They did give me 20% back for the mess. The new dress we ordered did come in very quickly, however, this dress had some flaws as well. Some of the lace at the top was peeling off the dress and some of the buttons were loose. So we sent it in for alterations, at no cost of course, to fix all the little things wrong with the dress. This took about a month. I have to say though, even when I came back a few months later for alterations, Angie remembered my name and asked how everything was going with the dress! After I got it back from these alterations, it was the perfect dress that I remembered trying on that first night! I DID have it sent for alterations one more time to add bustling because of the long train and eventually got to take my dress home at the beginning of June. I ended up purchasing from all these visits of course the dress, my shoes, a set of earrings, a bracelet, my veil, and some picture charms for my bouquet from this David's Bridal. Even with the mix up with my dress being damaged, I'm still going to give this David's Bridal five stars because they did everything they could to rectify the situation as quickly and professionally as possible. If I hadn't started dress shopping as early as I did, I'm sure it would have been more of a problem, but everything ended up being great. So thank you so much to Angie, the alterations team, and everyone else at David's Bridal for making sure I had an amazing experience!
