Long ago this place was popping to the point that a 20 minute plus wait was expected no matter what night. Showing up on a Friday night this week, it was dead. Only 2 tables were filled and the almost all Japanese staff were replaced by no Japanese staff.
The food was still just as decent and definitely one of the better Japanese restaurants in the city, so no complaints there.
Sashimi of the night (25, 35, 45$ options) To eat between two people as a tapas plate (don't expect this to be that filling) the 25$ was perfect.
Karaage: skip it. Over fried, over burnt, no flavor. It was closer to KFC chicken then your traditional Japanese style karaage. 1/5
Takoyaki: The tako wasn't the best quality, but it was good. 4/5
Okonomiyaki: There aren't very many places you can order this at. It's like takoyaki batter, but pancake style and with different seafood/vegetables in it. I preferred to okonomiyaki to the takoyaki. It was also a way bigger portion for the price.
With beers being as cheap as 4-5$ on draft, it really felt like a Japanese izakaya.
