  • Nerds Assemble! Most comic book stores are all the same, books, actions figures, and stacks of comics that stretch entire length of the store. But what Cactus Comics doesn't have is that geek arrogance. Sometimes you walk into a comic book store and ask for the latest issue of Batman or Superman and you get a look like, "wow, can you be more pedestrian?" - Not here, they give much respect for the classics. I came here after getting my watch fixed next door and decided just to look around and see what they had in stock. They had multiple issues of old and new comics, with the cheaper comics starting at a dollar a comic, and the "higher end ones" in the racks on the wall. Cactus also has a lot of figurines and action figures behind the counter, including Adam West era Batman Marionettes. I ended up getting The Walking Dead Compendium - One. I had been meaning to grab the full Walking Dead series in Volume form, which by the way Cactus Comics carries every issue from 1 - 23, but then Thomas (the owner) hooked me up with the compendium series. At Cactus, the volumes cost about sixteen dollars each and there are currently twenty three volumes, that's about $368 dollars for the full series, which by the way is still going strong. Each compendium only costs $50 with two currently available and the third on the way this is the best way to go. Thanks for the hook-up Thomas! FYI - You can buy these online and they are only about thirty-five dollars, but with shipping cost you're getting real close to that fifty-dollar mark. Your best bet is to support the local guy and not Amazon; I think they're doing ok.
