*I didn't try any of their breads or bagels, this review is only for their cookies and Portuguese Tart.*
I bought a Portuguese Tart, the Lemon Pistachio Shortbread, the Pecan Shortbread, and the White Chocolate & Macademia Cookie to bring home after a day of exploring Kensington Market.
I actually liked that the shop girls didn't approach me to offer help (because I usually need a lot of time to look through the selection they have and make my choice) but once I looked like I was ready to pay, they instantly snapped to attention.
I don't know if it's because they were brown-bagged or something, but when I tried the cookies later that night, they tasted....stale. Definitely something that I didn't expect - they were gritty and not crumbly and buttery the way shortbread cookies should be.....very disappointing.
The Portuguese Tart was something that I was questioning buying in the first place because they didn't look very fresh, but I knew my mom loves them so I bought one for her to try. The pastry part wasn't flaky at all (it was actually pretty chewy) and the filling was way too sweet.
I don't think I'll be coming here again, at least not for the cookies :(
