| - On our occasional visits to Las Vegas over the years we have made it a point to dine at Lawry's ever since a colleague introduced us to this place many moons ago.
We love the prime rib, décor, and the service - as well as the rolling steam table with service tableside - it's great, and a special treat these days.
The sides are always delicious, too. The side salad, freshly prepared, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, sautéed mushrooms, popovers, are all delicious and great quality.
On this visit, (8PM reservation on a Friday evening) I ordered the Beef Wellington "to try it" and it was very tasty, generously portioned, and came with a very nice potatoes au gratin and nice mushroom sauce. It was great but in the future I think I will stick to the Prime Rib - the main reason Lawry's steakhouses are so successful, after all:-)
Also, our server quickly and professionally averted disaster, as he'd had the carver serve my husband his Prime Rib before my plate had come from the kitchen. When they walked away, I knew we were counting the seconds until I got my plate and my husband (ever the gentleman!) could start eating. As it happened, the second the server arrived with my plate and my husband's Yorkshire Pudding, he took one quick look at my husband and said, "Let me make you a fresh plate", and my husband replied, "Thanks for making things right!"
We finished off with the famous Banana Cream Pie and hot coffee. A delightful end to our meal.
The valet was very friendly and helpful, too, in calling us a cab after dinner.
One special note: There is a sign at the entrance which suggest "appropriate attire" - as it should be. Lawry's is a special place with a great dining experience. However, we noticed LOTS of guests in novelty T-shirts, cut offs, and flip flops. It really detracts from the dining experience. And another interesting observation - the folks exiting the restaurant and driving cars were nicely dressed - the car thing makes me think that most of them were local residents. The "sloppily" dressed guests were bring picked up - making me think they were tourists.
As a tourist myself - a suggestion: Folks, when visiting Las Vegas Lawry's - show a little class with the wardrobe selections, okay?
And everyone should know, other than that, it was a very good experience. We will definitely return again.
