I am enamored with community hubs like this store. The West End Food Co-op has lots of programs, classes and goodness, I haven't participated in anything yet, so I can't speak to it, but I love that their programs exist, and I plan on getting involved.
The store is made up of a few aisles of local produce, dairy and some meat and poultry coupled with sustainable and organic, and I'm a fan.
Recently, I popped in for two chickens from a family-run farm and a loaf of delicious cornbread (only $5 because it was day old!). Was it more expensive than the FreshCo? Yes. Was it more delicious and did my conscience feel clean after purchasing? Double yes.
