I met with Yale Goldberg on a delinquent tax issue. From the paperwork I had and from our brief conversation, Yale said there wasn't much he can do for me if I agreed with the IRS decision but said that he'd be happy to draft the documents and contact them for me on my behalf. I thought about it and didn't want to pay him 10% of the total I owed just to draft paperwork. When his assistant called several days later, I told her of my decision. A few months later I get a letter saying I'm going into collections if I don't pay $600!! $600 for a 20 minute initial consultation? How is that ethical at all? When you use a lawyer like this, they are supposed to save you more than you are spending on them. Yale clearly saw that he couldn't help, yet insisted on charging me over $2,000 for nothing, and when I decided to do it myself he charged me over $600 for the initial consultation. All about the money here!!
