  • We decided to check out Cut since we were looking for steak and but didn't feel like leaving the hotel. We were sort of surprised we were seated in the lounge area since it wasn't super busy but whatever. As long as the food and service is good, you can seat me anywhere but the restrooms. We were assisted by a team of two guys. One guy was very nice and professional. The other was fake nice and I felt a sort of disdain from him. He was so lackadaisical in his actions - he thunked my cocktail down in front of me and ran away. Didn't say a single word. Literally THUNKED. When he refilled my mother's water glass, he left the water pitcher in its tilted position as he pulled it away from the glass, dribbling water across my mother's plate. Tossed his head and walked off. His whole demeanor was just super snooty, like we were beneath him. My mom and I made eye contact from across table and just had to shake our heads. Food was good. To start, we ordered a double order of the bone marrow flan. We also got the asparagus. I really really enjoyed the flan since it was marrow but not as greasy. Yum! I think everyone else enjoyed the asparagus better than I did. For mains, brother and I shared the American Wagyu Porterhouse. It was presented and carved masterfully tableside. We ordered it rare and it came perfectly cooked. Mom got one of the sirloins cooked medium and she really enjoyed it as well. I have to admit hers was seasoned slightly better than the Porthouse. Hubby, the perennial cheap date, ordered the pork chop which, to me, was just ok even when it was done perfectly medium. Sides were really great. Field mushrooms, pee wee potatoes and Brussels sprouts. I also ordered the yuzu kosho butter but when I asked where it was, I was told it was the tasteless yellow sauce (bearnaise, probably) that came with our steak. Imagine my not-so-surprise when we were served the actual yuzu kosho butter when we were almost done eating. Huh. In our ratings of steak places, Cut doesn't QUITE make the cut. TBH, my rating would be a tad higher if we didn't have to be served by the snooty server. If you like steak, come with a nice war chest and don't do your steak more than medium. Hopefully you don't get the same guy we got.
