I've now visited Liberty Commons 3 times since they opened and have tried a variety of menu items so I can now feel that I can write a decent review.
Venue:
The space is large and reminds me of being inside a CB2 store. More of an upscale bar than a brew pub. The hostess booth feels a little disconnected from the restaurant but as soon as you arrive you are taken downstairs to the restaurant area which has plenty of TVs for catching the game. The chairs are comfortable and the bar has a very nice quartz? countertop.
Service:
Service has been perfect every time I've been there. Great attentiveness, offers for samples of beers, and water constantly topped up. Really no complaints here other than the weird shirts that they wear and this random fish theme throughout the restaurant. It's kind of like they decorated the place to be a seafood restaurant but the menu doesn't reflect that.
The Drinks:
I've managed to work my way through most of the beers so far. All but one of the beers on tap are made by Big Rock, 2 of which are made in house. My favourite so far is the Citradelic, but the Warthog is a nice take on an English ale. My only complaint with the drinks is it would be nice if they offered something less than 8.50 a pint to make it more of a regular spot.
The Food:
Fantastic! Haven't tried anything I don't like yet. So far have had the scotch egg ($5 and excellent value!), brisket (nice and moist), Yorkshire pudding Nachos (probably my favourite), the pretzel (a massive baguette style pretzel that was a little harder than I like but came with some amazing mustards) and the burger (delicious!).
All in all, I definitely think it is worth a visit. They do daily specials which offer some value. Thursday you can get a pint of citradelic and the burger for $20 which is probably one of the best deals. Enjoy!
