  • Found a car on the website advertised MSRP was $30,800 sounded good. First off the vehicle had 2 MSRPs on the window when i looked, & the inflated price was now $36,500 for tint, life time washes and something they call location adjustment. When i pointed this out the 'sales'man said not to worry they can make me a screaming offer; should have walked then and saved myself 3.5 hours Asked to test drive it & waited entire 20 minutes outside while I politely listened to the family history of the 'sales'man. Seriously, I heard about his parents, how many dealerships his dad owned, how many banks he owned & the castle his grandfather had lived in. Eventually had to be rude & say I needed to test drive the car. Took the car for a 15 minute 2 mile test drive in traffic which the 'sales'man would not shut up... could not concentrate on anything. He then got nervous about the approaching Scottsdale Rd & Thomas Rd intersection as "its the 5th most accident prone intersection in AZ" (apparently) & request I U turn in the road & go back to the dealership. During the first hour we called the 'sales'man on atleast 3 or 4 lets say "honest mistakes" regarding options on the car they actually were not, features of the car (long detailed explanations of features that I failed to find references to on the web) & finally the fact that all their cars were 2012 models (which i was told that they Mitsubishi is on strike and there are no 2013s) So I pulled up their partners & competitors site showing mainly 2013s. Incidentally I had emailed Mark Mitsubishi earlier that week and was told this dealership had a new consignment of the model I was looking for. 'Sales'man denied this saying they were holding off 2013 for the newer 2014s.. Then began to describe in detail why they had 2012s and why 2014s were not out until Q4.. Now this is when the fun started when we got back to the dealership. Finally they ask me for my license and I mentioned I want to trade the car in. So they take my keys and my license. (I am now trapped and it sure felt like it) I was told to fill out my own autotrader query to get an impartial estimate of what my trade in is worth. I plug in my vin, l was honest, mentioned the 1100 insurance claim and finally the number comes up with a low ball number. Which I am reasonable I get it, its not a perfect car. But I know what other dealerships who use carfax have offered me for trade in. The 'sales'man comes over immediately says "well your car was in an accident so the figure is wrong". I said the damage amount was claimed on the report I completed and dealers that actually use carfax have offered up to $7000. No negotiation. The 'sales'man inflates the MSRP from the lower MSRP of $32k to $33,400 and says he can do this for $29,800 $200 under what their Internet site says that car, with that stock# and vin# is advertised at. I already an MSRP print out with that price from Mitsubishi including VIN and stock#. He then proceeds to give me a lecture of the legality of MSRPs and the fact that Internet prices must be an error. "I said thank you but I would like my keys back and my license i dont want to waste any more of his time" I said I was believing the advertised MSRP their website stated and that would have been a good starting point but I knew what I could afford & know from what I have been offered what my car is worth & there is too big a gap for us to negotiate. I would like my keys & license. The 'sales'man started giving me figures, and doodling on the paper muttering something about 4 square & how cars deals are made. The 'sales'man said he could squeeze $500 out of my car, I asked for my keys said the website had the MSRP stated and that their partner company has the same MSRPs from their website on the windows of the car and I wanted my keys and license. The 'sales'man ran outside while I was at his desk wanting to show me the MSRPs on the window of the car again.. I followed him now raising my voice asking for my '"dam keys back for the fourth time". The 'sales'man got upset said i was swearing I said I was not swearing I am trying to get out of here you have my keys and license. He then argued with me (great customer service) and told me I asked for my 'dam' keys back. I said sorry, 'dam' was outlawed as swearing when Gone With The Wind hit TV if you want me to swear i can, I said if I have to ask a 5th time I'm calling the police. They dealership lost my license and my 'saleman' for about 10 mins. 'sales'man did explain that his dad's bank could loan me money if I couldnt get a loan, & he could sell my car privately as his dad would write up a loan for people with bad credit on his own website. (ODD PRACTICE from a main dealer) The dealer did not try to negotiate, but tried to bait & swtich me to death to keep me there telling me about cars they could sell me & then failed to find them. I listened to so many sob stories it was sad. & now Yelp limits me :(
