Unfortunately I did not have a good experience at the worst possible time in my dog's life. First let me say that Kem, the vet tech, was absolutely wonderful. She was as kind and caring as anyone could expect. Thank you Kem! My dog Abby was 17 1/2 and was going downhill over a 2 - 3 day period. We took her to LAH knowing that she probably wouldn't be coming home with us. Dr. Rog was the veterinarian who was treating her that night. Now, at 17+ I realize Abby had plenty of health issues. It was the way Dr. Rog described treating her. "its like spitting into the ocean". "can't fix a broken bone with a band aid". I understand the gist but the manner in which it was said lacked compassion. We eventually made the decision to have Abby euthanized. When Dr. Rog administered the medicine, poor Abby jumped up, spasmed and moaned. It was not peaceful. His response was that was her body fighting the medications. After she passed, he began palpating her belly.....well more like flopping it up and down. He felt a mass and pointed it out. His words to us were "that may have been a problem down the road. We dodged a bullet with this one". And he then walked out. I was stunned. Dodged a bullet? My companion of 17 years just passed away and you tell me we dodged a bullet? Dr. Rog's terrible bedside manner and lack of compassion showed a terrible lack of respect for my sweet Abby's life. I have spoken to the office manager and let her know my concerns and how Dr. Rog acted. Polly was very attentive and expressed remorse over how we were treated and indicated this would be discussed. I plan on adopting another dog somewhere down the road. I will not be returning to LAH though. I would be too concerned Dr. Rog would be the vet working that day. I wouldn't let that man treat a goldfish.
