| - Best. Grocery. Store. Ever!
Since I moved to Madison, I've been going to Woodman's once a week to buy my produce. Huge selection, quality, and unbeatable prices. Really unbeatable.
I never go there with a shopping list. I just go through the produce and see what's cheap. Guess what, that means that produce is seasonal and I'm helping the planet while saving the wallet. Also, I like to be surrounded by people that go to a grocery store to provide for their families rather than talking about why Kambucha is "so good for you".
Let me explain what is the difference between Woodman's and pretentious grocery stores like Whole Foods.
Woodman's varies the prices of their produce based on the season: a cauliflower is 1 dollar in February and 4 dollars in May and sometimes it's just not for sale because, well, it's not season. Whole foods keeps their prices steady by selling the cauliflower at 4 dollars throughout the year and by carrying it all year around.
If you really need to buy strawberries in December you can go through the frozen stuff, but my suggestion is buy what's on sale, you'll help your planet and the farmers around your town.
Finally, as many people said, the liquor store is amazing. I'll also point out a recent feature that got me really pleased: the frozen seafood section is AMAZING.
PS: to those who complain about it not accepting credit cards. Use a debit card and move on. You are saving 30 to 70 % on your groceries, if you don't get a 2% cash back you can still be happy.
