  • Man it saddens me so much to hear that the Riviera may be closing in mya this year. I just stayed at the riv in December and October. I kinda knew this day was coming but didn't think it would close until at least after resort world opened. I have always loved the riv and always will. I'm the Duke of the riviera for a reason lol. I'm just happy that i booked my march 25-30 vegas trip at Riviera. At least this way i get to pay my final respects and take a ton of pictures and all that jazz. I plan to be back in vegas around July. Hard to imagine veing in vegas and seeing the Riviera demolished. Breaks my heart. I'm a 25 year old....6ft 250 lb man and i might shed some tears when they blow up the riviera. So many memories at the riv over the years. One of the very first places i ever stayed at in Vegas. Always had a special place i my heart for that. I got to Vegas about 3-4 times a year and not one trip have i done without at least stopping into the Riviera. I love the place. I never had a connection to the sahra or Bills so i didn't really care much when those 2 closed down. Riviera closing down is like a stab in the back. Riviera definitely kinda had it coming though. They should have added a night club and really modernized the casino. The hotel rooms were cool but maybe they could have done more to make those more modern. The pool was kinda old maybe should have been turned into a day club or something. I'm the biggest Riviera fan but they made a big mistake by focusing so much on their past. You walk in the hotel and there are so many black and white photos of when elvis and frank sinatra used to hang out there. That's all great but that kinda stuff doesn't work in today's Vegas tbh. You gotta be hip and trendy and all that other crap! I really kinda blame resorts world for moving to slow in opening up!!! If they would have made real progress thwn maybe the Riv could have bought more time. Sadly i don't think the Riviera was ever gonna do any of the ideas i mentioned. They were just hoping to survive off people like me who dig the old vegas vibe. Unfortunately there aren't many people in my age group who dig old vegas like i do. Hate to admit it but it's true. I hope all of you who didn't plan to make a trip the first half of the year decide to make a trip over to the riv. Once it's gone....it's gone. Unlike all these fake people who will cry about the riv being imploded when they haven't even been there in years.......i can honestly say i appreciated the riv. Made lots of trips and memories. R.I P Riviera. Strip won't be the same without you. Looks like Treasure Island and Ballys will be my new home base casinos from here on out. #BitterAndSad
