  • I came here for a Drive Clean test. I gave them a call about 20 minutes before I came and they said they could do my emissions test. When I got there, they were able to do do it immediately, there was just one other customer in front of me, who was also getting one done. The Drive Clean emissions test was straightforward, for anyone who isn't aware: they take pictures of your vehicle's plate, VIN number, and odometer reading, hook up a diagnostic device to your car, and run the test on the computer hooked up to the device while you run your engine for roughly 1-2 minutes. They give you a printable piece of paper you can use to renew your sticker, but when I went to renew it online it looks like the information was already entered for me after they did the test! Quick and easy, and not something that should take more than 15 minutes. I did NOT come here to get a service done on my vehicle, but I did meet a guy with a somewhat beat up '99 Honda Civic who says he's been there a few times and has referred his friends and he's happy with the service. He needed an emergency service done before a trip and they were able to help. This guy also mentioned they were open 24-hours. I can't speak to the quality of their work or the parts they use, but they are a small garage and seemed quite busy, and had at least 3 or 4 mechanics working, and 2-3 cars in at a time. If I had an old beater, I would try taking it here. This seems like a good option to go to if you need something done immediately and can't wait. If I went to the Lake Shore Canadian Tire, it would've taken me 2 hours, and the woman in the service department at Downtown Toyota--who didn't didn't even know what a Drive Clean test was--couldn't get me in until a week or so later. She then referred me to Downtown Nissan who doesn't even do Drive Clean tests... SSR knows them, does them, and does them quickly. If you need a Drive Clean test I would 100% say go here. Their service entrance is around back in the alley way, and they appear to have no front door on Pape, but waving got them to open the garage door on Pape. They appear to stay open later than the hours of operation listed on Yelp but I'd call ahead just to be safe.
