| - This company was assigned to my service request for my garage door from my home warranty, American Home Shield. My garage door was having issues closing (issue with the sensor) and I live in a transitional area in downtown phoenix close to the main road, so this was a safety issue for me and urgently needed to be fixed.
1) the company never called me to set up a time, as American Home Shield indicated they would. When I finally called them after a few days of waiting, I was given a time a week and a half away
3) The company then rescheduled the appointment 2 times after that
4) When the person finally did come out, they told me that they could not service the garage door because the brand was a commercial garage door brand (if there are brands not covered - they should have asked me on the phone BEFORE they came out to look and charge me a $75 service fee).
Now my warranty through American Home Shield says they won't cover the repair at all because Smokey's doesn't repair it, and I still owe the $75 service fee, even though it won't be fixed AT ALL via my warranty now. So this review is also about how bad American Home Shield is. But my main complaint is that Smokey's should ask first what kind of opener it is. To not ask and charge a service fee is borderline unethical. So now not only do I have a home warranty I pay for that is worthless, it's actually costing me even more money. I owe $75 for Smokey's service fee, my garage door is now deemed not covered for repairs at all b/c smokey's wouldnt fix it and I'll have to find another repair shop that will service it an pay the full price...and it's been almost a month that my garage door has been having issues without resolution due to the poor communication, rescheduling and wait times. Lesson learned - don't call Smokey's for quick resolution or repairs on all brands, and don't use American Home Shield Warranty.
