| - Annoying and weird. First two words that come to mind. Oh--and pretty bad service. Made reservations, arrived on time. Only 6 tables were sat when we arrived, most of which already had their food. The restaurant is pretty small, so with 3 working sushi chefs and a back of house staff and several servers, it's really odd that their ticket times are as long as they are. They looked overstaffed IMO.
For starters, I know it's annoying to serve families, I've worked in everything from franchises to fine dining. If serving families is too overwhelming to you--you should work at a bar.
We ordered AYCE, and two of my kids just ordered regular entrees. We knew what we wanted ahead of time, figuring it would make it easy for the server. Nope.
Our daughter's COOKED entree came out, soup first then 10 mins later-- the rest of her entree. About another 10-15 mins went by and we were still waiting for JUST our sashimi. With 3 chefs, a slow restaurant that was clearing out, NO OTHER patrons even entered--and we still didn't get a few pieces of raw fish. On top of that, the waitress seemed VERY overwhelmed & flustered. She's in the wrong industry. If you can't wait on a *few* tables, I.. I.. don't know. It was almost funny.
Our two kids finished their meals, then finally a few plates started to trickle out. We didn't want to be rude, but we eat sushi all the time, we've been there several times, so we needed to know why it was taking so long. The waitress (who was still very flustered) blamed the kitchen then mumbled then said "well you're not the only people eating and they're making lots of food right now". Meanwhile, when we looked over, two of the three sushi chefs were just standing there, not visibly busy.
Wherever. So we just wanted to eat & go home. We ordered a bunch of rolls. She then says "you can only order 6 at a time". It doesn't say that anywhere on the menu or on any sign. Every AYCE place would gladly bring (which would calculate to 2 rolls per person) what we ordered gladly because they always charge for what you don't finish. #whyareyouweird she was being lazy. I get it, you don't want to carry plates and do side work. So we just took a few rolls off our order as we knew we'd never go back there again & we didn't feel like driving to another restaurant since it's a school night.
Anyway, the sushi was good, but not good enough to go back. We'll be sticking with restaurants elsewhere. It's a shame and really their loss. They lost a lot of future business.
