I've been to this pub twice within the past few months because Bambino's hosts Rocky View Roller Derby events and I'm a sponsor. I had heard from a local that this place attracts a rough crowd and overall may not be the most desirable place in town to hang out. Well, it may not be, but I'm from small town Saskatchewan and this place is completely acceptable as far as I'm concerned. It looks like it's been renovated and is rather nice. The restrooms are better than many well used Calgary restaurants.
I've only eaten buffet style here but I certainly had no complaints. They actually made some sort of hot dip for nachos once and it was amazing. The meal they provided for the Stampede event I attended a few weeks ago was great and they had a corn dish I'd never eaten before. The drinks are inexpensive and the servers are attentive.
As for the crowd, it has always had its characters and I'd not make bets on a single woman meeting her husband here. However, I've had a good time and it's not a pretentious atmosphere. There isn't much for natural light and they tend to keep the blinds closed. They do face West (I think) and maybe the sun gets in one's eyes. I'm not a huge fan of a dark room in the summer months, which really would be my only deterrent. If you enjoy karaoke, Bambino's has that too, as well as a couple of pool tables.
