| - I enjoyed Parc Safari immensely when I was a kid, came back again in my teens and now in my mid twenties, got to re-experience it with just as much delight.
We came during labor day weekend and it wasn't actually packed. There is a calendar on the site that tells you when it's high or low season, pricing varies along with the opening hours. Just like going to any other big attraction, it is on the pricey side, however there are numerous discounts offered. CAA members benefit from 15% off, if you have Air Miles, it's 10% off and there is regularly a 10$ off coupon published in flyers or online, a quick googling will bring it up. There is also the option of purchasing your ticket online, in advance to get a special rate.
Now the safari portion is what everyone comes here for and it was highly worth it. On an average day, it takes about 45 mins to 1 hour to complete the trail and we encountered plenty animals that were willing to approach us, they were docile, we were able to take tons of photos, pet and feed them easily.
The parc sells little boxes of dry animal food, but I recommend bringing your own fruits and veggies. Only carrots, celeri and lettuce are permitted. We got big bags of carrots at Costco for 5$ and found that highly worth it. It's easier to wave carrots at the animals, they saw us from far and immediately came to our car instead of those with the dry food. It also keeps your hands cleaner, otherwise you will experience lots of slobber.
Once you're done with the safari, there is a bit amount of walking to do to see the rest of the animals- I love that there were plenty of rest spots, shaded areas and picnic tables to encourage people to bring their own food. That's definitely something we should have done because the restaurant options on site are measly and overpriced. The little village "souk" area where the boutique and restaurants are, is in serious need of remodeling. Along with the rides, they haven't been updated since the park was open 40 years ago it seems.
The food court is an exposed area so it's very hot and there were flies everywhere. I bought a tiny ham and cheese wrap which was over 7$ and a poutine, which only comes in one size, also 7$.
The great thing though is that it's not just a zoo, there is a fairly big area dedicated to its water park- They are divided in different zones, you can go tubing in one, just lounge by the kiddy pool or run under the misters and spray jets in another.
Memorable experiences for sure, I think everyone should visit once in their lifetime, if you can't make it to a real safari tour in Africa ;)
