Strumming through my Yelp bookmarks, I was unsure of where I'd like to go eat. You'd think with 75+ bookmarks, I could come up with something on the fly. Nope.
We were driving without a destination, with only the mutual purpose to find a restaurant somewhat near Cashman Field before Beau S. and went to the game. Remembering the wonderful smell wafting out of the Italian restaurant at the Golden Nugget two weeks prior, we ended up at Grotto.
At close to 5 PM yesterday (4/18/11) the place was empty. I don't know why but almost every time I go out to eat, the restaurants seem to be completely void of life. Our waitress took a bit to come take our order. Beau ordered an appetizer of fried ravioli after I noticed how small the $13 antipasti platter was that another table ordered. They were decent, but came with 8 pieces. I'm unsure of the exact price, but I know they were overpriced.
Beau ordered the chopped salad ($15) and I ordered the lobster bisque ($9) My soup was good but a bit small of a portion. Beau salad was more of a pulverized salad. The lettuce was chopped up into lady bug sized portions and he ended up eating the cheese out of it and leaving a bunch of salad still on the plate when we left.
The waitress was neither good nor bad. I think she forgot to bring us the bread basket and more refills would have been nice. Honestly, for $38ish, I think we could have gotten better food somewhere else.
