  • TL;DR : Aria Fitness Center has a good amount of weight equipment for a shoulder or arm day workout; get a good "pump" for the pool. No stations/equipment for heavy squat, deadlift, or bench press. Watch out for those not familiar with weight lifting; they can upset you and might endanger your health. To my Brothers & Sisters of Swole: This reflection is for my time away from my home Iron Temple to that of my brief period at Aria's Fitness Center. The path of the Swole can be a lonely journey with many obstacles that challenge our faith. Such an obstacle can occur when one ventures to Sin City whether for business or vacation. It is written: "Bros shall not live on whey alone, so long as it fits your macros." The various AYCE buffets, steakhouses, and Dens of Ale can destroy the commitment to strict macro accounting to Swoleness. To combat such complications, we seek an Iron Temple to maintain our vow to one of All Mighty Brodin's 11 Commandments: from Mass-thew 19:12, #9 "Thou shalt lift often, for every day of lifting is holy to Brodin." As most of my Bro-ciples practice the weekly ritual: Monday - Chest, Tuesday - Back, Wednesday - Legs. My journey to Las Vegas started on Thursday - Shoulders, Friday - Arms, and Saturday - Arms (for EVERYDAY is Arm-Day); it how I planned my trip and was determined to maintain my Gainz acquired through the blessings of Brodin. I walked into Aria's Fitness Center with no sense of what was in store for me. There were no previous detailed pictures on their Yelp page of their weight room and what could be used for my own personal ritual of worship. Upon looking through the glass walls and doors, I viewed a vast amount of elliptical machines, stationary bicycles, and treadmills. Then I remembered Bro-inthians 10:13-15: "Though you walk through the valley of the shadow of Cardio-Bunnies, you shall fear NO permanent loss of Gainz." Upon being greeted by the friendly staff, I was handed a bottle of water (complementary & AYCD) and a workout towel. Then I hear it, the all too familiar sound of an Iron Grip dumbbell greater than 50-pounds, strike a matted floor. My eyes immediately set sights on a 2-tier dumbbell rack, and there it is in all it's beauty: a pair of 100-pound dumbbells. I need not look for anything else for I knew the 100-pound dumbbell would be accompanied with his little brothers & sisters down 5-pounds. These are all the tools needed for a veteran Swole-shiper to create a complete shoulder and arm workout. I then saw the Cbyex pulley apparatus with all the various attachments and stations that my own Iron Temple would proudly display. Alas, around the corner there were no flat or incline barbell benches or squat racks. There was a Smith Machine equipped with only six 45-pound plates; that is for the entire facility. There were an acceptable number of 25-pound plates and 10-pound plates to compensate. A few negatives: 1) The flat screen TVs are directly at eye level and thus block one's ability to self-admire one's lifting technique and pump to Swole-halla. (Aria Staff: Please move those TVs higher, just below the ceiling height) 2) There will be those who are foreign to the Ways of the Iron and will attempt to keep up with those who are Swollen. They violate almost every gym protocol in the known to Swole-manity (standing in front of the dumbbell rack to lift, lifting weights so close to your head that danger to your skull is eminent, lift with such bad form and technique that it'll will make you question their existence and common sense). 3) The seats and benches are not bolted down. This led to unsafe movement/sliding while conducting heavy dumbbell incline press & seated shoulder press. All in all, the Aria Fitness "Temple" does a very fine job for a resort facility to maintain one's Gainz. If my fellow lifters are looking to set a PR in the deadlift, squat, or bench press, this is NOT the ground to achieve such feats of strengths; save those accomplishments for your home temple. But if you're seeking to attain a "pump" for the all to marvel at the pool, then by all means lift away my Brothers and Sisters of Swole. The Swole's Prayer Swolefather, who art in the iron temple Swole-ed by thy frame Thy swoledom come Thy will be done In the deadlift as well as in the squat rack. Give us this day our daily whey And forgive us our cheat days As we forgive those who swolehate against us And lead us not into cardio, but deliver us from the elliptical. For thine is the Swoledom, the power clean, and the glute ham raise. Forever and ever. Wheymen.
