| - I read the reviews (of course) while looking for a gym. I stopped by all of the 4-5 star places, not impressed. Wwwaayyy smaller facilities, worse staff (someone at City Athletic even said -with an attitude- that, "the price shouldn't matter when someone clearly needs some work", they then tried playing it off as a joke...), most didn't have many classes or child care, a lot were just sort of lacking.
For the things they offer, they should really be charging way more. The only thing they could have bigger would be the pool, but if you needed a pool you could go to Desert Breeze or Lifetime (if you're ready to pay 200 buckaroos a month).
This place just has a different vibe, it's not intimidating like the other gyms. As someone who gets exhausted going up the stairs, I actually do very well each time I go. I socialize and have made some friends (who are all very, very much so fitter than me).
The people just seem to understand more that we all used to be the same. They were once in my position and they choose to help me instead of brag or give me shade.
