rev:text	This event was supposed to be held last December, but it got postponed last minute to the great disappointment of ticket holders. I suppose I should have taken that fiasco as a warning--but hey, stuff happens, right? Well, thing is Sweets Con was today and it was abysmal. The web site said there would to be demos, seminars, free samples and all sorts of gift and sweets vendors. When we got there, we found about 10 food trucks and a couple of vendors. (One was for a non-profit and another was advertising a chiropractor. ???) The 'free samples' consisted of a tiny spoon of ice cream, 1/8th of a cookie and a 1-inch square of cake. If the event were free, I wouldn't have minded--but I paid $15/person to be there. I've gotten more free samples at Costco! The sadly hilarious part is that some trucks/vendors had nice little trays of samples set out...right next to signs that said 'display only, do not eat'! I feel bad for the people who paid for the 'VIP experience' that was supposed to consist of a loaded goodie bag and a catered lunch 'soirée.' What the people got were a few business coupons and a slice of Little Caesar's pizza. No joke. The refund table was busier than the ticket booth and even then, I had to talk to three different people in order to redeem my tickets. At this point, I really hope the company who set this up actually follows through with their promise to refund, because right now hundreds of disappointed people are out $13-40 per person. If they hold this event next year, DON'T GO. You're better off cruising the samples at Costco or hitting the food trucks at First Friday.
