| - Well, I just moved to Scottsdale and my family was finally coming to visit me. I wanted to splurge and go somewhere special and had been reading the lovely reviews about Elements. I go out often for my job and eat at five star restaurants often. I was expecting a beautiful view, and great service, and was hopeful that the food was would be as amazing and special. We had to change our reservation, as we were running late, and the female staff member that answered the phone was beyond helpful and provided us with an alternate time that worked. When we arrived we were pleased and delighted with the gorgeous view and mid century modern furnishings. That was the best part of the experience. We were crammed next to another table who were speaking so loudly all we could hear was his voice. There was a scented candle on the table as well. The server, who was originally attentive, tried to talk me out of ordering what was the best bart of the meal, besides the bread and edamame, a cocktail made with mescal. The tuna was gummy in texture and did not taste appealing. The server was very kind and took this off our bill, even though I told him that he did not have to, that I just wanted it taken away. The calamari which was to be crispy and spicy was neither. The duck pancake was undercooked and overwhelmed, and over seasoned with unappealing cabbage, soft tofu, and not near enough nuts, or duck, so it was a soggy disappointment. The short rib and mushroom ravioli, were also not prepared as described and again the flavors were not what was stated on the menu and the ravioli were doughy and not appealing. The Brussels sprouts were not edible as they were overly sweet and the pork belly or bacon was mostly fat. I think we must have ordered the restaurant's worst dishes perhaps. The truffle macaroni and cheese was very good, I almost forgot to mention but there was just a hint, barely of truffle flavor. Our server vanished once our meals were served and we did not see him again until we were ready to go. So we were not able to ask for replacements and since everything was not to our liking, we actually did not know where we would start so we just let it go and the friendly busser cleared our dishes. I would be happy to have a drink at the bar, but would not suggest a meal here or at least do not order what we ordered. The two stars are for the ambiance, nice support staff and one star for the food. I am sorry I was so looking forward to our one night out, it was a bad choice and hope that our visit was the rare exception.
