| - It's a nice McDonalds--what can I say? Above average, esp. for a downtown McDonalds, some of which can be pretty poky and dismal.
It doesn't rise above its McDonaldness, but is on the upper edge, with upholstered leather chairs and benches upstairs, and some sense of style beyond McDonald's previous, distinctively utilitarian aesthetic (if that older approach to decor could have been called "aesthetic"). It's nicer than most of the other nearby chains, in that sense.
It also has the McCafe menu, which I haven't tried but keep meaning to, as the offerings are more affordable than the ones a few doors over at Second Cup--and if decent, are worth the switch. I'm a thrifty soul and l am always in search of deals, wherever they might be found. Will report back when I do. For now, my comestible of choice for rushed early mornings is the egg McMuffin with ham: 290 calories and some protein from the egg and ham so that the sense of being full lasts a little longer into the morning or till lunch. Not bad, especially in a rush--and cheaper than the Starbucks equivalent!
