  • I was running out of time to spend in Phoenix but I just couldn't possibly pass the opportunity to try Hiro Sushi, especially after reading these amazing reviews from you fellow yelpers. I called in and placed a take-out order as I was driving towards the restaurant. You gotta do what you gotta do for food you can't get in your city. ;) While waiting for my food around 6pm on a Friday evening on their little bench by the entrance, groups after groups and couples after couples made their ways into the restaurant. Most of them have reservations, which definitely suggested me to be sure to make a reservation for my future visit. As much of Hiro as I saw, there were numerous pictures of famous people with the same Japanese man. (Perhaps Hiro, the restaurant owner?) The restaurant persuaded a cozy feeling. The traditional noren by the entrance and the actual Japanese chefs earned bonus points in my book. As the waiter handed me my food, and my check, I was sad I had to leave Hiro. Without even trying their food, I knew I wanted to come back for the full experience, the whole SHEBANG! I was tempted the whole entire drive to unpack that brown bag. As soon as I got home, I was pleased to find how nice everything was packaged up. Everything was there as if I was served in a restaurant; the thinly sliced ginger, wasabi, packaged soy sauce, sauce for my hiro roll, my foam container for my rolls was even decorated?. I appreciated the fact that they were thoughtful enough to separate the sauce for my long drive. If I remember it correctly, hiro roll is supposed to be served in their special sauce, which means my roll would be soaky when I get home. Both rolls tasted delicious even though they were made an hour ago. I only wished I ordered more food. :P I had no complaint as far as food concerns. Hiro by far serves the best sushi I have had in Phoenix/Scottsdale area. I did think the bill was a bit pricey but after tasted their food, it was no longer a concern. I am giving Hiro a four-star rating because it didn't quite match the best I had in Asia.
