  • **** PLEASE READ BEFORE TAKING YOUR PET TO VVAH **** This is my very first review on Yelp so I am sad to report that it has to be such a negative one. However, my husband and I feel it our civic duty to warn pet owners about bringing their fur babies to Valle Verde Animal Hospital for a number of reasons. I was advised by my older sister who is a veterinarian (not local unfortunately) to get a solid quote, multiple times from the same person before taking our dog in to be neutered. Why? Because any clinic can give you a quote, receive your animal, treat them in any way they see fit and regardless of the cost, hold you responsible for the amount they come up with even if it is 3 times what they originally quoted you. I did my research and while Dr. Snead is truly sensational and LOVES what he does, the internal operations are out to hook customers with a quoted price and then hit you with a sledge hammer before you can pick up your fur baby. Stormy, one of their front desk girls quoted me $300 for a neuter and teeth cleaning not including the take-home pain meds for our fur baby on three separate occasions. The cheapest in town? Most certainly not. But we understand that you get what you pay for and we believe in investing in our sweet doggy because he is the light of our lives. It just so happens that I came across the Yelp voucher ($149 for $299 worth of services for new clients). I mean, yay right?! Wrong. Valle Verde Animal Hospital flipped the switch and made a solid attempt at skyrocketing my bill to over double what I was quoted. $662 to be exact once they found out that I had my Yelp voucher to use. I spent my entire day at work stating my case, my frustration and accumulating so much stress over the lack of integrity of this business. After countless phone calls throughout the day, the office manager, Shannon, called me to try and pacify the situation. She fed me a bunch of crap about how obviously there was miscommunication on both ends and so they are trying to meet me half way so they were doing me a favor by discounting things that they really didn't have to etc., etc. Nope. Sorry. Stormy quoted me $300 and now your are up charging me in every way possible because you are greedy. The end. Wait it gets better... For big expenses, especially if we are having to deal with shady businesses, my husband and I still like to pay with personal checks so that there is a paper trail. Although it is not stated ANYWHERE that they do not accept checks, I was forced to use a credit card to pay the remaining $124 or else they threatened to retain my dog. My dog did not have an emergency or unusual circumstance that would require a change in price from the three times that I spoke to Stormy prior to his procedure today. While Dr. Snead is a great vet, there are equally talented doctors in this city and the front office staff has blackened the reputation of this establishment to the point of no return for me. Please do yourself a favor and take your pets elsewhere. No matter how superior they say their quality of treatment for your fur baby is, nothing can negate the fact that this facility has zero integrity and is out to drain pet owners that would do anything for their babies.
