| - I agree with scuba B. mostly. Meat has been fresh and well priced; fish is so-so, but if it looks fresh I'll buy it, as the turnover seems to be good. If I want to do jerk, Japanese, Vietnamese, Java, Chinese, or south Indian, this is a place where I know the ingredients will be available. Great for browsing and stocking up on dry or canned goods. Lots of specials on display, e.g., I can always find fish sauce or soy sauce at a good price.
Like many pan-Asian places, there is a smell when you enter, but can accommodate in about a half minute. One time I entered and smelled bleach, and that is something they should use every day in the fish dept., just not as strong!
The staff is helpful when you ask; English is pretty good as a communicator, unlike some stores in Scarboro or Markham. I was checking out several bags of charcoal with the sad faced lady, and she made sure each bag was taped and leak proof; that impressed me, because this is a sad lady with who knows what kind of immigrant background, and she does try to help.
