  • It seems odd writing a review for a hospital, because often you don't choose or want to be going there. I started at urgent care when I had severe stomach pains and vomiting. They recommended I go to the hospital instead since it might be my appendix. So we went to Pineville verses Steele Creek which is closest to us mainly because Pineville is larger and can do surgeries. When we arrived, it was very hard to park close. My husband saw a shuttle and he showed us where to park and gave us a ride to the emergency entrance. Once we checked in and said it could be my appendix, they took me back right away for assessment. They took some tests and started my IV. The nurses here were very nice. And they did finally give me some medicine to help with nausea. However, after that moment, they didn't have any beds ready yet. This is the part that annoyed me. I was in a lot of pain, tired and just wanted to lay down. We found a lounging chair in the waiting room which was more comfortable than the wheelchair. I waited there a while until a room was ready. Finally I was moved to a room and stayed there a majority of the day. I saw lots of different staff and all explained why they were there and answered any questions I had. I was allowed to have visitors, but only two could stay with me at a time. The nurses were friendly and made me more comfortable giving me some medicine and fluids and those warm blankets that are fantastic. I finally went for a scan where it revealed my appendix was indeed inflamed and I had to have surgery that day. It took forever for someone from surgery to talk to us. They apparently were very busy that day. So it took a while to get into Surgery prep. In the meantime nurses made sure I was comfortable. Near the end of the day, I was moved into surgery prep. Several doctors and the surgeon talked to me. I can't remember much at that point, but know they made me laugh and I understood generally what they would be doing. Surgery went well. I missed that I didn't get to wake up to my family. Apparently they weren't allowed back until I woke up. The nurse went over discharge instructions with my husband and I was out within the same day. Overall, staff and the surgeon were great. I just wish it hadn't been so busy and that we didn't have to wait so long for a bed and tests and surgery. I was surprised that I was able to go home so quickly after surgery.
