| - I really wanted to like Humble. I'm a big supporter of Lakewood businesses. I live in Lakewood. Alas, after two visits, I am not impressed. For a wine bar, the wine list is meager and mediocre in its selection. The service is perfunctory at best and my friend and I had to repeatedly hunt down our server. The bartender was not engaging and seemed put out by our request for another round of drinks. The menu is limited--fine for a wine bar, but in that case why can't they pay attention to the details and put out some decent basics? For example, the Caeser salad was simply awful. Bagged pale-hued pre-cut lettuce from Marcs (saw it on the service counter), minimal dressing short on lemon and parmesan cheese, flavorless really, absolutely no kick. The wood-fired pizzas are okay but for $14 a pop for a medium-sized pie they ought to be memorable. Where's the use of herbs and olive oil? The crust is tasteless (at least add some salt, guys) and the toppings so-so. Sorry, guys, this is a miss for me. I won't be returning.
