Had many amazing pies here.
With fruit pies the crust is excellent with a good stand-alone flavor and texture, biscuit is how I would describe it. I really like sour cherry and rhubarb-strawberry in particular. Some other fruit pies may tend to be a little sweet for my taste, eg. It's just the nature of blueberries or pears that they don't really stand out above the necessary added sugar. I look for seasonal pies too.
Cream pies include pretty great coconut and banana cream. Want to try the chocolate.
The pecan chocolate is dense and decadent as expected. One of their pies had peanut butter as well. Don't recall trying their layer cakes.
The do cheesecakes, small one about thirty bucks but exceptional flavor and you order them fresh which kicks up the nirvana factor (you'll spend nearly as much for la rocca at Loblaws and it's been there a week.) Best one so far was French style fresh fruit glazed, may also try New York style cooked fruit topped. The mango chiffon was despite the reputation just too heavily sweet for me, with no freshness to counter the richness of the cream cheese (YMMV.)
Nice people and real food, I have spent a fair bit of dough here. Support Kensington Market!
