Tru Burger Co. is a casual build your own burger place with wait service and a comfortable dog friendly patio. They are located in a shopping mall that's one exit from the sports arena.
We sat ourselves on the Dog Friendly patio and quickly we were handed menus. Our server soon greets us with a fresh bowl of water for my dog.
We started with the Green Bean Fries as an appetizer. We received a very generous plate of Fried Green Beans with Dipping sauces. One sauce was a tasty creamy but mild wasabi. The green beans were very tasty but also very substantial. I had to stop eating them or I wouldn't have room for my burger. My dog was very fond of the green beans and they kept her occupied as a train ride strolled by the patio with screaming children. (I was afraid she might bark at them) ($5.95)
I tried the Salmon "Burger" wrapped in lettuce and some toppings and onion rings with habanero sauce on the side. My salmon filet was juicy and was seasoned nicely. The onion rings were tasty and the habanero sauce was HOT, really hot and tasty with good flavors. This wasn't a burger that I could pick up and eat. I had to eat it more like a platter. ($16.50)
My husband had the Green Chili Burger with Grass Fed Local Beef. It's an 8oz burger and it came with a tasty chili and not a canned chili. He asked for it medium rare but it came out well on one side and pink on the other side. He said the beef had good flavor to it but the burger wasn't juicy as he was hoping for. He did tell the waitress it was ok..........($14.25)
My husband isn't much of a fish person but he thought my fish burger was delicious and he also liked the onion rings and habanero sauce over what he had.
I'm really feeling a 3.5 today on this place but I rounded it up because of the friendly efficient service, nice patio and the tasty platter I had.
Prices run on the high side and slightly higher than what the website had posted (4-1-17) but the ingredients they use are costly so you have to keep that in mind. The burgers on the suggested menu can save you a few dollars rather than the build your own section.
