I am sorry to give this place such a low rating. It was so cute and wonderful looking when I stopped for coffee with a colleague months ago that I brought my visiting mom there last week. Thought I'd show her something nice in Toronto.
Disorganized. None of the customers knew where to go to order, to sit and order, or where to get the food. Would it kill you to put up a sign? The cash had run out of change, and the cafe had run out of tea bags.
Sandwiches were from the refrigerator wrapped in plastic wrap - I knew it was a bad sign. Don't your customers deserve a fresh sandwich?
Soup was good, mother's sandwich was a 3 out of 10.
The sweets looked so gorgeous at the front counter we splurged and I got a chocolate butter tart and my mother the lemon pie thingy. There was more taste in a cardboard box than in the chocolate butter tart, and the lemon tart thingy was a bad interpretation of a lemon meringue pie (people cant leave the classics well enough alone).
I am so tired of good-looking food tasting bad. I am a good cook and a good baker and I am coming to the realization that bakeries are all visuals and nothing else.
My mother thought I was a crazy city girl to have spent all that money (not cheap) on such a terrible meal.
Safe to say that I will go and risk disappointment at another cafe rather than be sure to be disappointed at this one again.
