| - Lame.....................
So I was looking for a good dive bar near my house. I am not talking Apache Rd in Tempe divey, where the patrons could possibly stab you, but a good low key hang out. I need a Cheers.
When I read the Michael C.'s great review that said they have free car service to pick you up and drop you off I thought I had found my place!
OH how I hate being wrong! I went here with a friend Saturday night, after waiting 30 minutes for the car to pick us up, the driver told us he had no change so we could tip him. So we ended up giving him in a tip what a cab would have cost us. It was obvious he was scamming us, but what is the point of confronting him? I needed him to take me home later.
Now this one won't be a negative for the guys, but there were way more chicks than guys. I prefer a few more guys in a bar. But I guess the biggest missing element for me was fun people to talk to. I love going to a bar with a friend, having a few drinks, and meeting fun people to talk to. Those people weren't here. It was a weird crowd, and not in a good way. One weird solo guy at nearby table was actually leaning in and listening in on our conversation, then he would make comments out loud, but to himself, about what we said. His back was to us the whole time. The whole thing was a little One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The music and the karaoke were entertaining, but I prefer a bar that has interesting people who you want to meet.
The waitress was almost completely devoid of personality. The little that was there obviously hated being at Dukes! She sucked, and she screwed up our bill.
One lady who worked there named Cynthia stopped by for a minute, and she was cool and friendly. Thanks for the 5 minutes of friendliness Cynthia!
Another negative was the brightness of the bar. Hello, bars should not be that bright. You needs just the right combo of alcohol and dim lighting to meet your future ex-boyfriend.
Just an overall disappointment! Unfortunately, I won't be back there anytime soon.
