| - I've been shopping at the Bake Sale for a couple of years now. It is where I get most of the cakes for my staff birthday occasions. They have a small case with basic cakes, white cake, chocolate, carrot and lemon sweetheart. If you call ahead they will do inscriptions for you which is handy dandy. These cakes come in two different sizes and are quite reasonably priced. We've tried all four of the cakes and the consensus among my staff is chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. Personally though, I love the Lemon Sweetheart cake. It is tart, like me. :)
I am of a mind though to say that the real great thing about The Bake Sale is their squares. They carry about a half dozen different kinds. Date Squares, Skor Brownies, Traditional Brownies, Lemon Squares, Pecan Squares...you get my drift. Squares are priced at about $2.50 each. They are thick, dense and a good size. What I do is buy a mixture and the quarter them up, sort of like Petit fours, and I'll make up a platter of smaller squares. It is a great way to create a dessert platter of absolutely stellar baked goods.
There are also scones, cookies (try the Hermits, yum yum) and small loafs. During holiday seasons, including Valentine's Day & Easter they make up these really cool packages of mixed up specialty cookies that are decorated accordingly. Prices range from $10 -$25. Oh yeah, they do cupcakes as well. Quite basic, vanilla, chocolate & strawberry and they offer them up in mini's which I really like. A girl can only handle so much of that icing.
