One of Belmont's culinary treasures continues to bring excellent dining and service to a grateful town. The wife and I made a last minute decision to go out for dinner and decided to go to Old Stone Steakhouse since it is a short stroll from our house. As it turns out we made it in time to get the "early bird special". Your choice of five or six entree choices along with choice of salads, sides and desserts for $13.95. While their shrimp & grits is hard to pass up, and their 1/2 rack of ribs is always terrific, we both chose the 12oz. ground steak smothered in homemade pimento cheese and sauteed onions drizzled in a wine reduction. The wedge salad was icy cold and delicious with homemade blue cheese dressing, bacon, craisins and shredded carrots. The ground steak entrees were cooked perfectly and you could tell they were freshly ground steak with a coarser texture and not hamburger meat. Along with the baked potato "all the way" there was just too much food to finish. We ended up taking 1/2 of the meat home (for the dog ;-) ) along with our desserts. Our server Alex S. was perfect in his service, repeating our order and tending table without being invasive. I highly recommend Old Stone Steakhouse in Belmont as the food and service never disappoint.
