Wow, if you have never actually been in the Cathedral of learning, you need to come at least once. As soon as you walk in, you will be AMAZED at the massive scale and beauty of this Pittsburgh landmark. We came on a dreary winter day to see the nationality rooms and it was perfect. There is an area on the first floor where you can go and pay for a self guided audio tour of the rooms. I think the price is about $4 a person and they give you a key and little recorder that tells you the history of each room. On the day we were there they were out of recorders so we got a bit of a discount. These rooms are actually used as classrooms so double check on the website if tours are available on the date that you want to go. There are about 30 rooms so if you plan on seeing all of them give yourself ample time! I highly recommend this as a rainy day activity or a great place to take out of town guests who want to see something really unique to Pittsburgh.
