Circa: April 2016
My dog went blind last summer in the span of two days due to SARDS which is common for his breed.
The main doctor at this clinic scared me half to death prescribing painkillers due to a brain or spinal lesion and/or spinal injury which he believed caused the blindness. Google 'Blindness' and 'schnauzer' and SARDS is one of the first things to come up.
I came to this clinic as a last resort because my regular vet was away. It was very unpleasant and unfortunate to hear such an extreme and uninformed diagnosis during such a difficult transition.
Once my vet was back, the First thing he suggested was going to a Opthamologist, which he referred me to, who diagnosed SARDS. He referred me to a Neurologist soon after. Now a THAT is experienced, rational veterinary response.
