| - I was expecting great things based on the other YELP reviews. I chose them because they did both carpet and tile and because they had positive reviews. Sadly I was disappointed. I had the entire house, carpet and tile cleaned on a vacant home prior to move in. The condition of the floors was average to begin with, definitely in need of a good cleaning, but nothing terrible. When the job was complete I immediately told Chris that the carpets were not as clean as I had anticipated. He said that was as clean as he could get them and sometimes all the dirt does not come out. I was disappointed with this response, but what could I do really? They were cleaner after all, just not as clean as I expected. I'd say on a scale of 1 to 10 then went from a 4 to a 7.
Next there was the tile and grout. The tile in the areas adjacent to the carpet looked clean initially and he said he even scrubbed some by hand. I thought that was nice of him and mentally gave him credit for extra effort. I guess I should have looked more closely at EVERYTHING rather than taking his word for it. As I began piling boxes into the kitchen, it became apparent that the tile floors were not clean and there was still a lot of ground in dirt. I could clearly see the dirty tiles vs the cleaner ones (ie corners of the room compared to the traffic areas). The pantry was not even touched. The tile and grout in there were black. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd say the tile/grout started at about 4 and ended at about 6. Surface dirt was gone, but the ground in dirt in the kitchen and a several other areas were still very obvious. Two days after the cleaning was complete I called Kip to ask if he could come take a look at the work for himself. I explained to him that I thought they could do better and if he saw it for himself I think he would agree. Instead of agreeing to come out and at least LOOK at what I was talking about, he gave me the run around about how hard it is to get someone back out there, how busy their schedule is and how I should have said something immediately. I told him that I did comment on the carpets and was told it was the best they could do. I am sorry I did not examine all of the tile as close as I should have. But given the excuse I got for the carpets not coming clean, I doubt the response would have been more favorable for the tile work. Kip said he would talk with Chris about my job and give me a call back to see what they could do. Its been 2 days now. I'm pretty sure I won't be hearing from him again. I can assure you, when I made the initial appointment, he was not too busy to call me back and quickly get me on the schedule.
I am still not happy with the carpets either. But the tiles are so much worse.
I spent much of the day yesterday on my hands and knees in the kitchen scrubbing the tile with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Judging by the fact that the eraser turns black after just a few tiles, I'm pretty confident that Above and Beyond did not clean as deeply as they should have. I have many more tiles to go. It takes a long time when you don't have professional equipment. If there is a way to add photos here I will add a picture of his work, compared to what I have accomplished.
Good luck to you all and my advice to you is to check EVERYWHERE before paying for their service.
