As an adult this place is a lot of fun. I can't imagine how awesome it would be for a kid. Living in NY we have the Liberty Science Center in NJ and The Franklin Institute in Philly, this place is in the same vein as those, interactive science. We just got the basic entry which included the museum and the USS Requin a WWII/Cold War Era submarine out back. It was about $20, which wasn't bad seeing as how we were there a few hours.
The place is completely interactive, so you can launch little rockets, see how water flows, build structures to withstand earthquakes, and see how your body works. My two favorite areas were the model trains, which were done up in four different seasons and showed Pittsburgh in the late 1800's/early 1900's and the robot area. You can challenge the robots to air hockey or basketball and totally be humiliated. It was really a fun day.
The submarine out back was pretty cool as well. You get to see the living and working environments these men had to deal with. I can understand people being apprehensive of tight spaces, because there was barely enough room to stretch.
Great fun for all ages.
