| - My husband and I stayed here last weekend--overall, it was a great stay!
We stayed in a corner, "pool view" suite on the top floor. As soon as we got inside after walking down from the light rail (which was an awful 1/2 mile walk in 100 degrees heat) we were happily greeted and offered water bottles! THANK YOU!
We checked in that Friday afternoon, had a drink at the Gallo Blanco minibar inside, and enjoyed the pool for a few hours. The next morning, I got up super early but was pleased to see they had mini Keurig makers in the living room part of our suite and made myself a cup of coffee really easily. I headed down to check out the pool when it wasn't so busy for a bit and it was nice. At about, 10 am though, that's when the families and their herds of children come in. Yuck! My husband and I are purposefully child free, so we did not find that entertaining. Once the screaming started and the pool was swarmed with the little ones, we ended up just going back to our suite.
My husband I were turned off, however, by the idea that you can PAY to sit in a cabana and NOT be a hotel guest. I do not like that, and my husband was perplexed by it. Why on Earth would you take away quiet pool time from the guests who have paid to stay in your hotel by offering public entry to the pool? There are pool clubs for that, and this was not the kind of pool that really should offer that. It wasn't nearly big enough, and the pool is surrounded by the rooms and buildings (so the sound just reverberates back into the pool area and it's suuuuper noisy). I was pleasantly surprised, however, by the fact that the pool is salt water! It was nice--made me miss the New England beaches!
My only other thing I was sad and disappointed about: the rooftop was closed. NOOOO! I've heard such great things about your views and we never got to go! :(
But don't get me wrong: the Clarendon was very accomodating, the staff was great, our room was clean, etc.
