| - I'm a sucker for the deals, so when Groupon had one for this place I thought it would be a good opportunity to try it out. According to the Groupon Brasserie is under new management, so I was fairly optimistic.
When we arrived, we were the only people there. I thought, "Hey, maybe we arrived early for lunch," but then by the time were were finished two hours later, we were still the only customer there. Bad sign.
And it gets worse. The Groupon was for an entree for each of us and a dessert on a prix fixe menu. There were six entrees to choose from and three desserts, and when we ordered the waiter told us that they were out of the quiches (2 entree options) and the creme brulee. I got a fruit tart instead, and to my friend's dismay, she ordered the chocolate mousse but apparently they were also out of that, so they made her this really "creative" contraption with ice cream, cream puffs, chocolate drizzle, and pistachios. Pretty much all three of the listed dessert options on the menu were out.
So I think despite the taste of the food, which was great (we both had the croque madame, a ham and cheese sandwich with a poached egg on top), and the service which was energetic, gracious, but sparse, I had to give the two stars for a menu that starts with nine possible options but ends up with four.
