I had to get some last minute ribbon and fun fur for a beauty pageant/murder mystery I attended last night and I was so surprised to see a very few fabric stores in Calgary. In Guadalajara, Mexico where I lived for 8 years, there is one area alone that has block and blocks of fabric stores. I guess Latinos love getting married and love to make their own clothing. It's probably cheaper and smarter to do it.
So I was there and saw a "not so exciting fabric store" that had no lustre. The store is organised well but the areas don't look like much effort is put into them. And then I understood why; the sale staff. I find them unexpired and plain rude. This one girl with dyed girl hair literally laughed at fun fur that got on my clothing. All I saw in the corner of my eye was her smirking at my discomfort. And when she was asked by her workmate a couple of questions she lazily sat beside her and nonchalantly answered her. I was so appalled in my head; this lazy oaf here is your manager? Wow.
So expect things you need for sewing etc but don't expect the type of cliental service that should come with Fabricland.
