| - I consider this a lunch spot, I don't think I would come here for dinner. I also wouldn't ever pay full price to eat at Genghis Grill. If you plan on eating here, I suggest signing up for their club to get your free regular size birthday bowl and other coupons via email, plus every 10th bowl free.
This restaurant falls somewhere between fast food and full service. You are seated by a hostess, but a while back they changed it so you get your own beverages (Coke Freestyle machines), and you go down a buffet style line to pick your bowl ingredients, but you order appetizers and bar drinks from a server.
I really had to get over my fear of going down a buffet line of raw proteins (chicken, beef, pork, fish, etc.). It scared me because of possible cross contamination, salmonella, temperature, etc. After coming here on multiple occasions and not getting sick, my anxiety has lessened a bit, but I remain very careful.
Some tips: Make sure you season your meat or your bowl will be bland. Pile your veggies high because they will cook down. You can add egg to your bowl when you order your starch. You can also pick up some toppings (peanuts, sesame seeds, chow mein noodles, and chili paste) while there.
