| - This place has simply gorgeous views of Phoenix. Two levels of this restaurant have extensive glass panoramas that take advantage of the height of the hill on which the restaurant sits.
That being said, the high prices of this restaurant make you think you're getting haute cuisine, outstanding customer service, in addition to the beautiful vistas. This unfortunately fell short with us.
While the food was very well executed, the menu was predictable and dull. We had the venison and the filet. Both were cooked to perfection. The portions were smaller than I had expected, and the desserts were even smaller than I thought possible. For the money I was charged, I would expect a small, yet satisfying portion. I'm NOT a big eater by a long shot, but had I come in hungry, I would've left hungry, even after appetizer, entree and dessert.
The service was satisfactory for a cheaper restaurant. At these prices, I had expected superior service. We were left waiting for 10 minutes after we finished our appetizers before the server took our order for dinner (we spaced our dinner out and didn't order everything up front). The server didn't ask us if we wanted additional cocktails either. We received better service from the runners than we did our server.
All in all, this is a great place to go for a special occasion, but if you want superior service, reasonable portion sizes, and interesting menu, go to Elements at Sanctuary. The view isn't as "good" but it makes up for it in all other ways. Or consider Orange Sky at the Talking Stick. Julio there gave us the best service we've had since moving to the valley.
