This was a cool short locals hike! If you are in shape takes about 20 minutes to get to the summit from the trail-head on the N/W side. Might be a little hard for a beginner but its a great place to begin! Beautiful 360° view of the valley from the top, a small bronze spike marks the high point when you get there. We encountered quite a few climbers on the easily followed trail from the West side off of Vegas Vista Trail on a Sunday morning. There are other routes up the hill, but this seemed like the most heavily traveled path. Plenty of parking there or at the three parks close by, at Lone Mt. Regional Park (North side), Lone Mt. Discovery Park (East side) and Majestic Park (South side). There is a great walking/running/equestrian trail making a loop around the mountain that is 2.2 miles long making access to almost anywhere on the mountain easy.
