  • If you can't go to UW, go to MATC. I have enjoyed my time here and have had many grand experiences. The work load is easier than UW and credible compared to for-profit institutions. There are a few professors I would recommend if you are considering taking some classes or wanna fill up your schedule with studying. *Dr. Ron Dunbar is a phenomenal Economics professor. He is well versed and the examples he makes will stick in your brain beyond the test. I wish I could have taken him for more classes. *Dr. Andrea Thalasinos is my number one go to for Sociology classes. Also very knowledgeable and fun. *Scott Johnson teaches Earth Science and is passionate about it. My brain was crammed full of scientific tidbits that are applicable to real life. (Come on, ask me about Lake Mendota!) *Dr. Maurice Sheppard may have been my favorite teacher. He enjoys politics and enjoys teaching. He's rather fun and can hold a conversation about many things. The not so great... Brad Baranowski. He teaches here and Upper Iowa University. He never refrained himself from being condescending when he was wrong and he never would admit he was wrong. He told his students that humans have been around 4,000 years. He reminds his students every day that he is feminist yet he nods his head when male students say mean things about women. He calls intersex people hermaphrodites. He told his students to get mad about DOMA and told us to email Bill Clinton. Brad could not explain what DOMA was and did not know that Bill Clinton has revoked his stance on said issue. MATC a great place to save money, learn, and make friends. Most of your professors have been vetted well and are knowledgeable but a few bad apples have gotten into the cider.
