(Lyrics - Counting Crows - A Long December)
At El Encanto and there's reason to believe
Maybe this meal will better than I had
I can't remember the last drink that I had as I was eating
Now the service go by so fast
And it's one more day up in Cave Creek
And it's one more order of Fundidos
If you think that I could be Yelping, I wish you would
El Encanto is a long staple of the Cave Creek area. Nestle along side all the biker bars and niknac shops; El Encanto brings out some pretty darn good Mexican food.
I came here after a short hike with some friends. We went to the bar for some Bloody Marys to start, which was okay; I didn't really care for the mix. As we sat I ordered a beer and enjoyed the view. Inside the restaurant is a beautiful pond with some ducks, turtles, and koi fishes. This would definitely be a romantic setting during the evenings!
I continue to ordered my meal and my friend recommended the Pollo Fundido; what appears to me as a chicken chimichanga doused with warm cheese on a bed of Mexican rice. Overall, the dish was definitely cheesy! The chicken was still warm to the bite as it well wrapped with a tad bit of crispiness while the oozing cheese soften it slowly. To be honest, not my cup of tea, though I can eat cheese; just not this much. I wanted some spice to give it another element; maybe some peppers.
In the end, El Encanto is quite a drive for me, but they have 2 other locations around the valley. I think it's definitely a nice date night to check out the view and have some wine. As for the food; it's up to your palate. I for one, will keep trying! - Enjoy!
