I am incredibly new to fish keeping and within the first week of having my tank I admittedly have made every rookie mistake in the book, I made several attempts to get help at nearby huge chain pet stores with little to no luck. 2 of my fish contracted ich and I decided to take a 25 minute drive to Phoenix Tropical to see if I would have any luck. Toni was there when I came in with my 1 & 2 year old boys in tow and had no problem with us cruising around the store to look at the 'fishies'. I humbly explained my plight with my meager 10 gallon tank and she gave me a ton of great information without making me feel like I'm 'new'. My fish are now all healthy, happy and looking forward to upgrading to a larger home here soon!
There is another young guy that works there as well (forgive me for not knowing his name) and he is so incredibly well educated about aquatics. He knows the ins and outs of every species that shop. You should feel confident about making any kind of a purchase with him or Toni!
The shop isn't fancy by any means, but it's well stocked with everything you could possibly need for your aquarium. The helpful, informative and passionate employees are reason enough to stop by.
My family has taken several trips down there since getting our tank and my husband and kids absolutely love it. The outdoor portion is great to wander through. The 'family dog' is incredibly friendly and all of the turtles are so much fun to watch.
All in all this is a great local business and we look forward to being customers for years to come!
Stay away for big box and support your small locals!
