| - I honestly have no idea what some of these reviews are referring to. My father in law is full blooded Greek, and we have eaten at numerous Greek restaurants throughout the greater LA area, and this place was one of the best I've ever had. The server was very friendly, but to be honest my yelp reviews are 90 percent based off of the food. We ordered a house salad, and he recommended we share one because it was enough for two and we still couldn't finish it. My husband is 6'4 and a big eater, portion size is not an issue here. The server explained that the gyro taverna is a plate of gyro meat not a gyro pita. They have a gyro pita option if you want it served in pita like a taco. I'm obsessed with quality moussaka, it's my go to. The cook had the server come tell me that their lamb is robust and heavy on the allspice WHICH IS GREAT. The moussaka comes out in a stone roasting dish like a le creuset. It was DELICIOUS- but if you don't like clove or all spice ... traditional moussaka just isn't your dish. Hubbys gyro was tender, not dry. We ordered the galaktoboureko, and it was just as satisfying. It's a custard baked in phyllo dough, and we had the house roasted coffee. As in, they roast their own beans! We are definitely coming back, and will bring his Dad to try the Pastitsio.
