My dentist doesn't do root canals, so that is how I ended up here. I had talked to my insurance about coverage, and had several opinions on whether I needed the root canal. I didn't think to ask the price because I had already received a range of prices. That was a big mistake, she charged me more than double the highest estimate.
First of all fearing what I heard about root canals I asked for nitrous oxide. Not only would she not give it to me, but she insulted my intelligence by saying it was broken.
She had to keep giving me the cortizone, because I was still feeling pain; this has never happened to me before. Anyway my procedure was a simple as root canals get, and 20 minutes was all it took.
I feel its unethical for dental surgeons to be making thousands of dollars per hour, it is not brain surgery where price is not an issue. Nor is it cosmetic dentistry where the best would charge more due to high demand. All she did was kill a healthy tooth so I could get a crown put back on.
I'm am extremely pissed to be out so much money.
